In the beginning, there was only the great void, and within it, the god Kha-Nefer. He looked upon the emptiness and knew that he must create. With his power, he formed the earth, the sky, and all living things. But Kha-Nefer also saw that his creations were flawed, for they were prone to violence and greed. So he descended to the earth in the form of a mortal, and taught his children the ways of righteousness. He showed them how to live in harmony with one another and with the earth, so that they may prosper. And Kha-Nefer said: "I have given you the gift of life, and with it, the power to create. Use this power wisely, for it is sacred. Honor your fellow beings and the earth that sustains you. For in doing so, you honor me." And the people of Kha-Nefer prospered, living in peace and harmony. But as time passed, they forgot the teachings of Kha-Nefer, and fell into darkness once more. But it is said that one day, Kha-Nefer will return, to remind his children of the sacred way.
